Pneumonia is the leading cause of death among children under 5 and the majority is concentrated in only a handful of countries.
Pneumonia is both a preventable and treatable disease. That's why today, November 12th, the United Nations Foundation, UNICEF, GAVI Alliance, and World Heatlh Organization have come together to raise awareness about Pneumonia and 5 simple ways we can reduce the premature deaths related to the disease.
One of the biggest causes of pneumonia comes the smoke of indoor cooking fires, which affects nearly 3 billion people. By getting clean cookstoves, such as the BioLite HomeStove, into more households and reducing these harmful emissions, we can help eradicate one of the leading contributors to childhood pneumonia.
