Ms. Sumi Munda, aged 38 years, was elected as the Village ward member. She helped many in her area change from lighting kerosene lamps to using alternative energy source through the Jindal Stainless Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. She started using Luci lights for various household chores and started encouraging her children to use them for studying. Ms. Munda says that the solar lights have since improved her quality of life and is happy that she can spend more on her children’s education without buying kerosene.
